It’s almost summer and what better way to celebrate than to bring a little bit of the season indoors?
We recently updated the look of our fireplace mantle to give it a coastal look and I wanted to add a little more of that decor to my living room.
I’ve been seeing jute rope decor at the store and knew that would make a great addition.
Making jute rope coasters couldn’t be easier. All you need is hot glue, scissors and of course, jute rope.
Materials:
Jute rope (easily found at the craft store)
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Measuring tape
Cardboard
Method:
Determine how big you want your coasters. I did some googling and it turns out 4 inches in diameter works well. My rope measured 27 inches for each coaster.
Draw a straight line of 4 inches on your cardboard. That will help guide you as to when you should stop gluing the rope together.
Put a bit of hot glue on the end of the jute rope and fold it over onto itself. Carefully coil the rope around, hot gluing to secure it as you go.
Once your coaster is four inches on your template, cut the end of the rope and secure it with more hot glue.
Make as many coasters as you need. That’s it! It’s so easy.
Let it dry completely before using as a coaster.
