Tackle Housekeeping With Your Kids

January 22, 2016 By Courtney

This is a guest post by Edna Thomson.

Let’s face it – household duties are probably not your favorite activity but if you really want to ensure an excellent home environment for you and for your family, they should be provided on a regular basis.

With your busy working schedule and all the other duties you probably find it difficult to manage with the housekeeping in an effective way.

As the kids grow up they can also become part of this time-consuming tasks and you should encourage them to help you with the basic tasks when you feel too busy with other duties. It is true that many parents find it difficult to motivate kids to be more initiative when time for cleaning comes, however, if you choose the right approach, you can effectively involve the children in the housekeeping.

Tackling housekeeping with your kids can become a fun experience for everyone as long as you learn how to be a team and to share the household duties.

Here are some new ways to encourage the kids to take part in the household duties more.

Be A Team and Make Yourself the Manager

Many parents consider housekeeping their responsibility and forget to remind the children that they also need to be involved in the household duties. Encourage the kids to become a team and to act like a team, but make them realize that you are the manager. Children often tend to be more distracted and disorganized but if you are a good example, you will definitely manage to encourage the kids to give the utmost of their efforts when time for cleaning comes.

Forget About Yelling

Yelling at children won’t make things easier for both of you. When they feel forced to manage with the tasks, they won’t be effective with the housekeeping, so you had better think of another effective approach. Discuss with them that you sometimes feel too tired to manage with the housekeeping all by yourself. Explain them that as a part of the family, they should also contribute for the excellent look of the home by dealing with the basic household tasks.

Win the Housekeeping Wars With Changing of The Rules

If you feel unable to motivate the kids to become part of the cleaning team, you should consider another tactic – changing of the rules. Be rigid and clear out the rules about housekeeping. If the kids failed to manage with the promised task, make them realize that this will have consequences. In case the housekeeping wars continue, have a talk with your kids and tell them that the housekeeping rules should be followed, as any other rules that have been established in this family.

Winning the housekeeping wars is certainly not easy, however, when you are motivated enough, you can keep on good terms with the kids, when cleaning is concerned. Trust your cleaning instincts and make the perfect plan for a cleaning schedule are advising you from FastHomeCleaners Chiswick. Do not hesitate to involve the kids in the game and to demonstrate them that keeping the rooms clean and shiny is possible.

Do not feel disturbed by the fact that you cannot dedicate much time on the chores – when all the family members help each other with the household tasks, without complaining all the time, your home will quickly become sparkling clean and shiny.

Regardless of the methods that you use to encourage the kids, try to make these activities enjoyable both for you and for the children. Respect the independence of the kids and trust them when they manage with the cleaning tasks.
