I’m a sucker for a holiday craft. I love to create grownup DIYs and love to help my kids.
I wanted to do a few easy crafts with the kids to gear up for the long 4th of July weekend so I went on Pinterest to get some ideas.
I was inspired by these adorable straw fireworks and this hand print American flag t-shirt.
To be honest, I didn’t have time to run to the store and buy a white t-shirt and I wanted to step up the straw firework craft. So instead, I came up with a DIY Hand Print American Flag and Straw Fireworks 4th of July Banner.
DIY Hand Print American Flag
Materials needed:
Red Paint
Blue Paint
Paintbrush
White paper
Bamboo stick
Directions:
Using a paintbrush or sponge, paint your child’s left hand with the blue paint. Then make their hand print in the upper left hand corner. (Where the stars would be on the flag.)
Next, using your paintbrush, gently make the stripes with the red paint.
Let your painted flag dry completely before attaching the bamboo sticks.
Once dry, either tape or glue the bamboo sticks on the paper.
Straw Fireworks 4th of July Banner
Materials needed:
7 bendable straws
gift wrap tape
red paint
blue paint
string or ribbon
4th of July Banner printable (print mine free here!)
Directions:
First, print out the banner provided within this post.
Next, take the 7 straws, bend them so they look like the letter “L”. Take them together. Fan out the tips of the straws. This will be your firework.
Dip the straws in blue paint, imprint on the triangles for the banner. Repeat with the red paint.
Once the triangles are dry, they can be cut out. Once cut out, using a glue stick, attach them all to the string. Be sure to place the Happy 4th triangle in the middle!
There you have it! Two easy 4th of July crafts. Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!
