As a mom of three young kids, I’m always looking for activities the whole family can enjoy.
Believe me, it’s tough sometimes to find something for everyone when you have a baby, a toddler and preschooler.
When I heard that our local movie theater was playing TV shows and movies specifically for young kids on select weekends, I knew we had to try it.
Kidtoons are family matinees that happen every third Saturday and Sunday of the month. The running time is about one hour, which is perfect for younger kids; as any longer could make them antsy.
Our first time to Kidtoons was last month and the Nick Jr. show “Shimmer and Shine” was playing. My daughter thought it was the coolest thing to see one of her favorite TV shows on the big screen.
I think Kidtoons is a great way to introduce your child to the movie theater because the screening time is in the morning, the show doesn’t run that long, and it’s affordable. Tickets are $5 each.
I have to admit, I was surprised that my 22-month-old and 3-year-old sat the whole time. You just never know when trying new things, but they really enjoyed it. They were entranced by the whole experience.
My two older kids especially liked all the snacks that came with the movie. I mean, that is the best part, right?
