This post was sponsored by Smile Brilliant but all opinions are my own.
I’ve been a tea drinker for what seems like forever and have been drinking coffee since I was 16. Because of my daily habits, I wanted to use a teeth whitening system that brightened up my smile.
When Smile Brilliant reached out to ask if I was interested in trying their product, I jumped at the chance because I’ve been pregnant four times over the past seven years, and haven’t had the opportunity to whiten my teeth. (Ask any healthcare professional and they’ll tell you there isn’t enough data out there to give pregnant moms the go-ahead with teeth whitening, so that’s why I waited.)
For a busy mom of four, using an at-home whitening kit was definitely my best option. This system suggests whitening anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. I’m so happy I didn’t have to do that in an office chair at the dentist!
Getting Started with Smile Brilliant
First, you’ll need to make impressions at home for your customized whitening trays. Smile Brilliant sends you everything you need to make the impressions.
The kit contains enough paste to make impressions for your top and bottom teeth once, plus extra in case you need a re-do. I did end up using the re-do paste because I wasn’t confident in my impressions. They looked OK, but the company ended up sending me more paste for another re-do. It turns out the impressions I mailed back to Smile Brilliant weren’t deep enough for trays to be made.
Third time’s a charm!
As you can see in my photo above, my kit also came with the whitening gel and de-sensitizing gel I needed for my whitening adventure.
Using Smile Brilliant
Once your trays arrive in the mail, you can get started.
Smile Brilliant’s customer service department is great and offered so many helpful tips to me. One tip was to whiten at night before bed, because you can’t eat or drink anything for 30 minutes after, plus whitening takes a bit of time, so you’re more apt to have a block of time to whiten at night.
As I mentioned earlier, you have the option to whiten for up to 3 hours! To be honest, I didn’t think my teeth needed it that long and my teeth are sensitive and I didn’t know how they would do.
I never did more than an hour at a time and I’ve already seen great results.
My first night went great with no side effects. After the second night I could feel tingles in some of my teeth. Customer service recommended putting coconut oil on my gums before whitening and that did the trick!
If you use this system, I would highly recommend doing that beginning on your first night.
After each whitening session I would notice some white spots on my teeth. It is completely normal and blends in after a few hours. Don’t worry!
***Another quick tip!*** If your teeth feel sensitive, give your mouth a few nights off. I did that, too, just to err on the side of caution and everything worked out great.
Here are my results from whitening about every other night for two weeks. Smile Brilliant tells me the average person sees results after 7-14 treatments.
Can you believe those photos are unedited? Omgosh I want to hide under a table after posting that before picture! 🙈
I’m whitening as I write this and will continue to do so for a few more sessions. But, to be honest, they look pretty white and I could probably give them a break! I’m very happy with the outcome and the product itself.
Besides Smile Brilliant doing what it said it would, I really appreciated the customer service. I can’t stress enough how much they helped me.
