Fire and Ice Restaurant: Fun Family Dining

January 4, 2016 By Courtney

I could count the times on one hand that our family went out to dinner this past year. We order take-out every week, because, let’s face it, it’s easier. But, going to a restaurant with three kids five and under, in my opinion, is work. (Then again, so is bedtime. ?)

With that said, if you find the right restaurant that entertains your kids while feeding them, then I think you’re on to something.

We have a couple of go-to places that have been memorable for all of us. Some are breakfast spots, while others are unique in experience.

Right before the holiday we were invited to check out Fire + Ice Restaurant in Providence.

Fire + Ice offers a create-your-own-meal concept that has fresh food for each and every appetite.

Here’s how it works at Fire + Ice:

  • Start by heading to the market with your family and fill each of your bowls with ingredients you like.
  • Then head to the sauce bar to flavor up your meal.
  • Finally, bring your creation to the world’s largest Mongolian grill and watch chefs dazzle you with their skills.

It’s hard to say which part of our trip my kids loved more; choosing food at the market or watching it be prepared.

This restaurant really engaged the kids by involving them in their meal from start to finish. We all got something different and my oldest two (5 and 2) enjoyed getting up from the table and walking around the restaurant to get more food.

The food on our table varied from linguine with pasta sauce, to hot dogs, to chicken teriyaki to cheeseburgers. There was no shortage of selection that’s for sure!

We had to hold the kids up to see the food being prepared on the grill, but that’s only because they’re so small! Most young children would be able to see everything just fine and would really enjoy it.

And while it was a super busy night, our server was still attentive. One of the managers even waited for our food at the grill because we had our hands full with our three little ones!

My daughter is still talking about that night at the restaurant and I’m so glad it was a big hit. Now, we have another place to add to our list of “family friendly restaurants.”

If you’ve been thinking about visiting Fire + Ice, here’s another reason to head there: Kids eat free at brunch! That means every Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., kids eat at no charge.

Disclosure: My family and I were treated to a lovely meal at Fire and Ice in exchange for this post. As always, thank you to the companies that support The Mod Mommy! I only write about companies or brands that I feel are of interest to my readers.
