We see you summer. 😎
For most of the country, they’re already enjoying it. For us here in Rhode Island, we still have one week of school left.
Even though we’re not in official summer mode, my kids and I have been preparing for it so we can embrace it with open arms.
Rhode Island has seen a few summer scorcher days this week and we’ve already enjoyed our slip n’ slide and sprinkler.
With that said, my kids and I definitely do not like to stay home every day. It’s going to be tougher this summer to plan things because we have to do everything around the new baby’s schedule. But, I do want to be ready for any impromptu outing to a playground, park or beach.
Over the years, I’ve gotten better at packing snacks super quick. With little kids, I’ve learned you have a small window to do just about anything, so you’ve got to move fast.
In my opinion, as long as you have snacks in your pantry and refrigerator, you will be ready to leave for a car ride at a moment’s notice. The key, though, is to stock your kitchen with the right snacks.
And by right snacks, I mean grab and go items. These snacks will most likely be individually wrapped and portioned out. This is clutch when you have multiple kids. Everybody gets the same amount!
Here are some of my favorite on-the-go snacks:
- Cereal or granola bars
- Raisins
- Cheese sticks
- Fruit pouches
- Small fruit like clementines (they’re tiny, juicy and my kids can actually peel them!)
- Sandwich crackers
- Variety of chip bags
I love having variety snack packs on hand because there’s something for everyone in there. Right now, we are enjoying Snyder’s-Lance variety packs and they are great for any occasion.
I really love Late July’s Nacho Chipotle chips. They’re crunchy, spicy and just right for a quick, salty snack.
Snyder’s-Lance variety snack packs are available in four different packs: Premium, Non-GMO, Small Batch Kettle and Gluten Free.
We have both the Premium and Non-GMO variety in our pantry and it’s been fun for the kids to each pick a bag they want to pack when we leave the house for the playground or just for a car ride. We’re heading to the beach this weekend, so having these bags portioned out already will be handy to take along!
My kids have their favorites and I have mine. Fortunately, we only overlap on Kettle brand’s Sea Salt and Vinegar chips. There may or may not have been some squabbles over those bags! 🙈
If you want to pick up one of these variety packs they are available at most grocers.
