When I had my daughter in 2010 I carried a notebook and pen around with me everywhere for the first few months. I jotted down when she ate, how much, when she slept, diaper changes and moods.
Fast forward two and half years later and they now have an app for that! Gone is my notebook and here to stay is my iPhone.
I’ve been using a couple since the birth of son in January and thought I’d share them with other new moms and moms to be.
This app does it all. You can log a diary, milestones, eating and sleeping habits, doctor visits, growth and more.
Cool feature: You can email your data to share with a spouse or caretaker. This is very helpful so you can keep everyone on the same page.
This is by far one of the cooler apps I’ve seen. BabyPhone Deluxe is an on-the-go baby monitor. You only need one iPhone for the app to work. BabyPhone Deluxe will call you on any kind of mobile or land line if your baby wakes up.
This is great to have when traveling or visiting the grandparents. Now you don’t have to run in to the room every time baby cries.
Cool feature: You can filter short sounds like coughing etc. You can also talk back to your baby through your iPhone’s microphone.
We used this one when we traveled to Florida, as I didn’t want to lug our sound machine with us. This app is jam-packed with more than 40 different sounds. From bird sounds to white noise to ocean waves. Relax Melodies has something for everyone. There’s even one with wind chimes. That’s a little cooky!
Cool feature: You can mix and control the volume on the sounds.
Check out my appearance on The Rhode Show talking about these apps.
Best apps for new moms
Moms, are you using an app that you suddenly found you can’t live without?
