If I were to back to school shop, here’s what I’d have in my closet

August 27, 2013 By Courtney

Even though I’ve been out school for almost a decade, (eek! I’ll be 10 years out of college next year!), I still get the feeling of wanting/needing to buy school supplies or clothes.

On certain Sundays, I still feel like I’m forgetting something. It’s like I have an unfinished assignment that needs to be done. It’s the weirdest feeling.

One feeling I don’t want to shake off is the urge to get some new school clothes. I’m a mom to two kids now and the times, they are a-changing.

My youngest is 7 months old, and I’m s-l-o-w-l-y getting back into my old clothes. But, as all moms know, after you have kids, your body settles in different places, so things certainly don’t fit the way they used to!

With that said, I recently emailed myself some great options to add to my closet for the fall. These are staples that I’m hoping can stick around for awhile.

Not only were these finds affordable, but they are on trend. Win, win!

What I wish was in my closet:

Love Sole Women’s Boyfriend Blazer – Black

Boyfriend Blazer
Dress up any outfit with this chic, comfortable boyfriend blazer. This would look great over a t-shirt with jeans or over a simple dress.

Price: $29.99 at TheHut.com.

Free shipping!

Old Navy Wrap Dress

Wrap Dress
Great for any body shape, a comfortable wrap dress can be worn in any season, no matter the occasion.

Price: $27.50- $32.94 at OldNavy.com

They always have coupon codes available, making for an even more affordable outfit.

Ann Taylor Modern Boot Cut Denim Jeans

Jeans
These aren’t your average “mom” jeans. They’re not too high or low on the waist, but also have a flattering butt. Dress them up in heels or with casual flats. Ann Taylor calls them “the season’s wear-with-all pair.”

Price: $89 at AnnTaylor.com

Right now they have a special: BUY ONE FULL-PRICE ITEM, GET THE SECOND 50% OFF! NO CODE NEEDED.

Women’s Lila Piped Ballet Shoes

Simple Suede Flats
Simple, yet stunning. These are cute to look at and comfortable to wear.

Price: $29.99 at LandsEnd.com

These were regularly $69.00. This is a great sale price for the many functions of the shoe.

3/4 Raglan Tee

3/4 Raglan Tee

Raglan Tee
Love this! So cute. This tri-blend heather jersey provides for a soft, comfortable wear. Will look great with skinny jeans and flats.

Price: $32.00 at Zappos.com

Ships free!

Amazon also offers free shipping if you spend $25, so that could be a good option to try and find these items there and shop all in one place!

Moms, do you have any closet staples? If so, what’s your favorite item?

The Old Navy dress is fantastic though if you wait for their next sale (give it a week or two) you can get it even cheaper. I shamefully admit to having an Old Navy card just for the extra discount. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ooh fun! I’m about to start my shopping for a convertible car seat for my little boy. He’s getting too big for me to lug around in our Chicco keyfit. ๐Ÿ™‚

I like where you going with this…mom’s should get to “back to school” shop too! My favorite fall staples are a good flattering cut jean and a light 3/4 sleeve sweater, similar to this one from Loft http://www.loft.com/popcorn-stitch-sweater/312084?colorExplode=false&skuId=14247941&catid=catl000011&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=9380
