Mother’s Day is around the corner, and while I don’t consider it a huge holiday, it’s still one I celebrate.
I don’t consider it a big deal because, in my eyes, moms are superheroes, and we should thank them on any and every occasion. I’m sure I’m not alone on that!
In honor of the holiday, Pampers has asked me to write a letter to my children, sharing all that I’ve learned from them.
In the 3 short years I’ve been a mom, I’ve learned more about myself and what I’m capable of than I have in my entire life.
“When a baby is born, a Mother is born.”
To my greatest accomplishments,
Every day I get to hold you and squeeze you is a memory I’ll forever hang on to.
I’ll never forget the first time I became a mom. I worried you would notice it was new territory for me, but you didn’t. You both showed immense love right from the beginning. You needed me as much as I needed you.
My heart bursts with joy just at the sight of you both. While it is always rosy and sunny when it comes to how I feel about you two, I have learned how to handle all types of emotions being your mom.
I’ve learned how to be patient. I’ve learned to enjoy little moments, like waking up in the morning.
My darling daughter, every day your fiery spirit amazes me. You are a morning person and cannot wait to start the day. It’s hard to not catch your energy, it is contagious and so fun to be around. I could say I’m lucky, but the truth is I’m blessed. Dad and I discuss almost daily how amazing you are.
My sweet boy, your love for life along with your sense of humor can get me through anything. You make me laugh every day. You make me laugh hard and out loud. Sometimes we laugh for a long time together over a funny face you made or a funny thing you did. I am grateful that even during a trying moment, you pull me out of it and remind me to appreciate our beautiful life.
Having you both has taught me to live. To see the world as you see it. And if it happens to be a world full of hide and seek, play-doh and I-Spy, then I don’t ever want to know anything different.
On this Mother’s Day, I want to thank you both for your love, acceptance and patience. You are my shining sun. I love you.
Love,
Mommy
