Welcome to Our Controlled Chaos, Crosby Riley!

May 16, 2017 By Courtney

You guys. Please accept my apologies for making this announcement here on the blog 11 days after baby #4 was born. I’m just now starting to get my act together.

I wanted to introduce you to our little miracle, Crosby Riley.

He was born on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo!) at 8:33 a.m. He weighed in at 6 lbs 15 oz and is 20 inches long.

(Did you notice his middle name is after my sweet Lhasa Poo who recently passed? I miss him terribly and felt this was a great way to keep him with us.)

This was my fourth c-section. And if there is such a thing, this was my best one yet. (I’m not kidding!)

For all of the others, I had some kind of reaction to medicine shortly after. And right after my last one three years ago, my sweet boy Coby spent a week in the NICU. So, that was not a great time after delivery.

But, this new guy. He was drama free.

We went to the hospital on the day he was scheduled.

I took this photo right before I had to change into that uncomfortable hospital gown.

It was early in the morning, and my doctor performed a gentle c-section; complete with dimmed lights, soft music and a very zen atmosphere. This was the first delivery where I was the first person to hold my child. (All others they handed the baby to my husband first. I could always see the baby, but I wasn’t able to physically hold them.) We immediately did skin to skin and I was just so glad everything was turning out OK.

As moms, we worry constantly. So, to feel any kind of relief if even for a moment, is always a good thing.

That was probably the only zen moment, though! Anyone knows having a c-section is no walk in the park. I’m still sore and it hurts like hell to sneeze. 😩

So, where are we now? Believe it or not, I haven’t stopped working. (Fortunately, I’m able to work part-time from home.) And we’re still adjusting to life in general.

But, I will tell you. It’s pretty great.

I’ve always wanted a big family and now I have one. There’s always room for more love!

So we got discharged. 🤣 this pic sums us up nicely. Welcome to our controlled chaos, Crosby!
