Everyone’s favorite momager said it best. “One kid is like one kid, two is like twenty.” I heard Kris Jenner say that on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians a few months ago and I didn’t pay it any mind until I actually had my second child.
My son is 9 weeks and we just started to get into a groove not too long ago, but it’s still a juggling act. Both kids are great, individually and together, it’s just me who is still trying to find my schedule, if you will.

Here’s a humorous take on ways my life has changed since having my son:
1. Nighttime feedings have me watching and getting sucked in to infomercials. So far, I’ve wanted to buy a Total Gym, Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty, the new Keurig System and some other unnecessary items. I’m so dazed that by morning it has me thinking I need these products. I’ve even tweeted the companies at like 4:30 in the morning to say hi. Clearly, I need to sleep more. I am their target audience for sure!
2. My lunch consists of whatever my daughter is eating. I used to always pack a healthy lunch for work, but these days I’m eating mac and cheese, grilled cheese or humus and crackers. It’s def easier to make the same type of food for me and my toddler. Thankfully, this is probably just a temporary fix.
3. My favorite makeup product still is and always will be eyeshadow. However, makeup only comes on my face these days if company is coming over. My daughter noticed the makeup I was wearing the other day and said “Mom, your eyes look pretty.” Then she followed it with, “You’re just like Mimi!” Mimi is what she calls my mom. Thanks for noticing, kid!
4. I talk more than ever before. Almost every night my husband has to hush me because he said I’m talking too much and he’s trying to sleep. I’ve noticed I ramble on and on, but my dog and newborn don’t talk back, so late night pillow chat is one of the highlights of my day!
5. I wear my slippers out of the house. By accident, of course! I wear my awesome sparkly slippers all day, every day. I love them and they are a staple to my wardrobe. On three separate occasions, (that I know of!) I’ve run out to the store wearing them! My toddler is the one who noticed while we were at BJs last week and she got a good laugh out of it.
I know I’m not alone with these “mommy brain” scenarios. How has your life changed since having more than one child?
Love the slippers. I already eat what my toddler does for lunch everyday so thats already nuts! I was babbling away to my husband last night after he got home from a long day at 9:30pm. He was like, hun, its time to sleep! ๐
I completely relate! One positive that comes as they get older is that they can play together… but they also fight too! ๐ Well, at least it keeps life interesting, right? ๐
I have so been there! I will tell you that it gets easier as time goes on! YOu are doing a great job!
I only have one kiddo, and I do ridiculous things that make me say, “what the what?!” with just him. I can’t imagine what my brain would be like with 2. Also, those slippers are amazing.
So true! I did the slipper thing too…a few times. Once to work!!! I had to go home and get shoes!
Oh my gosh, I have been there!!! I remember wondering when it was going to get easier and it definitely did for me around 4-6 months after my daughter was born. You’re doing a great job!
oh so very, very true!!!! I wish I could tell you it gets easier but I think that each age/stage comes with its own challenges. I definitely did, and still do, several of those things now that I have 2 kids. Like get to the post office before I realize I’m still wearing my slippers. Or eat their leftovers for dinner. Yep. ๐ hang in there mama!
