What they say is true. It gets harder to lose baby weight the more children you have. I had my third baby 14 weeks ago and I’m already comparing my current post-baby weight with numbers from my two other pregnancies. I’m playing this game in my head where I say “Oh, by this point all the pregnancy weight was off, or by six months post-baby I should be able to fit into my old clothes.”
The reality is, life just keeps getting busier. I have three small children, with the oldest being four. So, for me to get any time to myself to exercise is rare. Does bending down to pick up toys 50 times a day count as cardio?
The option that works best is to count calories. My husband has great success with it and swears by it. I also don’t really feel like I’m dieting when I count calories, because I can eat what I want, just in moderation.
Chasing three kids all day has also kept me out of the kitchen. It’s a place I love to be, but right now, I just don’t have the time to be whipping up Mulligatawny like I used to.

You can barely see my littlest guy, but here we are! Me and my three munchkins.
These days I find myself eating off my kids plates, or eating whatever they are having for lunch. And that’s just not the answer when you’re trying to get back to your ol’ self again.
There’s options out there to help get you out of the chicken nugget rut. One is to eat Progresso™’s light soup. It’s ready to eat, it’s 100 calories or less, and comes in a ridiculous variety of 40 flavors. In one month, you won’t eat the same soup twice!
I recently lunched on Progresso™’s Light Creamy Chicken Alfredo with Pasta and Savory Beef Barley Vegetable. It was nice to sit down with the kids, know what I’m eating and actually feel full after.
Here’s how I would describe them:
Light Creamy Chicken Alfredo – Creamy, smooth and cheesy. This one was delicious and compared well to an actual chicken Alfredo pasta dish. I also liked that it wasn’t salty. With canned soups that’s usually the first thing you taste. Not with this one.
Savory Beef Barley Vegetable – Hearty, meaty and sort of nutty. This was a hybrid for me. I’d say it’s a cross between a beef stew and a minestrone. Both are equally awesome in their own way, so to combine them is just genius.
Having these soups on hand has also been great for snacking. My kids eat at 5 p.m. and my husband and I eat two hours later. So, eating a can of Progresso™’s light soup before my main meal takes the edge off my hunger. It also allows me to control my calorie intake and what I’m eating.

Let’s face it, soup at 100 calories is way more exciting than a slice of bread, piece of cheese or handful of chips. It’s also more nutritious. Not a bad way to beat dieting boredom, am I right?
I don’t care what Jerry Seinfeld says, soup is a meal! (Does anyone remember that episode?)
