I’m a sucker for baby gear or anything baby-related. I’ve had four children and I’m currently using my fourth diaper bag. (Full disclosure: I actually sell them when I’m done so I can put that money towards a new one. I swear, I’m not a hoarder!)
But, whether it be due to functionality or style, I had found a reason each time to get a different one.
I’m a pro-packer now and it doesn’t take me long to replenish my bags’ contents after a day of use.
Of course, what’s inside the bag will vary based on how old your child is. But, I thought I’d share my list of diaper bag essentials.

See the below list if you’d like to learn more about some of my favorite items.
I just adore Finn + Emma. They use 100% organic cotton, eco-friendly dyes, and all natural wood on toys for your little one. I love their fresh prints and their quality is top-notch. This is the kind of stuff that gets passed down as heirlooms.
Packing a baby swaddle is a great idea so baby can nap anywhere, anytime. We love the Ollie Swaddle. It is specially designed so baby sleeps better and longer, with patented moisture wicking material to keep baby comfortable and an opening at the bottom for easy diaper changes.
- Baby hat and booties (especially in fall and winter months) from Feltman Brothers
- Baby cardigan (this is ideal for fall when it can be unexpectedly chilly)
I love these pieces from Feltman Brothers because they are made of 100% cotton and offers a vintage, classic look. They all work great together or alone. Feltman Brothers are a great go-to if you are ever looking for a baby gift.
- Stroller Speaker (OK, this is as much for mom as it is for baby!)
The Duet Stroller Speaker by Summer Infant holds your phone and plays music and/or takes phone calls on the go and at home. It easily attaches to strollers and connects to any Bluetooth enabled device. The smart phone mount lets you enjoy your music while strolling your baby and allows you to easily see texts and calls. I like that you enjoy your own music if you are exercising during a walk with baby or if you’re out and about and want to play some lullabies, you can. This could be a fun item to add to your baby registry!
Moms, what item(s) do you keep in your diaper bag that’s actually for YOU?
I was sent samples of some of these items for the purpose of this post.
