We’re closing in on Halloween and most of our homes are soon to be filled with a bunch of candy we don’t need. Mostly, because us parents will probably want to eat it!
I have small children, so seeing these kinds of snacks in the house literally only happens once a year. Of course, we love ourselves some cake, pie and ice cream, but to see heaping amounts of chocolate, lollipops and other sugar-laced treats are just not the norm in our pantry.
Since my oldest is 4, she’s really getting into the Halloween spirit. I just don’t want her to be that excited about the candy. That will be tough to curtail, for sure!
In an effort to not become a ‘Debbie Downer,’ I’ve come across some deliciously awesome healthy and natural snacks you can have on hand this Halloween. You can even dish them out to the neighborhood kids if you want.
I can’t rave enough about the brand Funley’s. Everything I have tried, I have loved and so has my family. Here’s a little background if you haven’t heard of them.
Their products have NO preservatives, NO trans fats, NO high fructose corn syrup and NO artificial anything! They are also all made here in the USA. Hooray!
All of our products meet Whole Foods Market guidelines. Additionally, depending on the product line, some even have more benefits like vitamins and minerals, whole grains, and Superfoods inside.
My family and I got to sample the Wholly Granolly clusters and the Super Crackers.
The Super Crackers contain hidden veggies inside every bite such as broccoli, carrots and sweet potatoes, but you would never know it! Super Crackers come in four flavors such as Cheddar, Pizza, Ranch and Cornbread. The crackers are non-GMO and contain 7+ essential vitamins and minerals. My favorites were the Cornbread Super Crackers. I ate them every afternoon with a cup of tea. They seriously taste like little crunchy bits of cornbread.
And if you have a bit of sweet tooth, you’ll want to try the Wholly Granolly. They are poppable, wholesome and crunchy granola snacks perfect for busy folks on the go! And perfect to hand out for Halloween. These light, tasty clusters are 100% Natural, low sodium, and made with whole grain (10-12g/serving). Flavors include Apple Berry, Double Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Pretzel. Double Chocolate Chip were so delicious. They tasted like little crunchy pieces of cocoa.
The closest product to candy by Funley’s Delicious are their Stix in the Mud.
They are chocolate cookie clusters that come in 3 flavors including Original, Caramel and Peanut Butter. Stix in the Mud pack a healthy punch with no preservatives, transfats or high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial anything. The snacks are a good source of Vitamin D, calcium and iron.
Any trick or treater (or parent!) would be thrilled to munch on these healthy treats.

And if you’re looking for something for the kids to snack on while they are out trick-or-treating, you’ll want to check out Fruigees.
Fruigees is a certified organic fruit snack that is packed with healthy fruits and veggies. Fruigee’s is non-GMO, no added sugar, gluten free, BPA free and totally vegan! Flavors include Kalefornia Grape (apple juice, grape juice and kale juice), Nothing Beets Cherry (grape juice, beet juice, apple juice, cherry juice) and 24 Carrot Orange (grape juice, carrot juice, apple juice, orange juice).
Moms and dads can just throw a Fruigees pouch in their jacket pocket or a bag, making this a great alternative to eating candy while out ringing doorbells. These are sweet treats for sure, and kid approved!
My 21-month-old son LOVED the 24 Carrot Orange fruit pouch and my husband, believe it or not, loved Kalefornia Grape. He was pleasantly surprised at how good it was!
And the last new brand we got to test drive with our taste buds was by Nate’s Meatless. They were kind enough to overnight us some meatless meatballs. That was the first time I’ve ever received frozen food in the mail, it was pretty cool!
Nate’s Meatless Meatballs are a great option for vegetarians and vegans who do not want to compromise on taste and quality. They have the same taste, texture and versatility of traditional meatballs. The ‘meatballs’ are packed with protein soy, are non-GMO and offer fewer calories and high vegetable protein content, making them perfect for vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets alike. Flavors include Classic, Savory Mushroom and Zesty Italian.
Below, you can see my boy chowing down on the Zesty Italian. He ate 5 of them! I tried some too and put my ‘meatballs’ on a small roll with cheese.
Here’s the thing with the meatballs. Of course they won’t taste like meat, because they’re meatless. But, they did remind me of a veggie burger and eat those often. Not because I’m a vegetarian, but because I like the taste. I think it’s great to widen your child’s palate and having them try something new like this can be one way to do it.
I hope everyone enjoys their Halloween and has a chance to sample some of these fun, new, healthy options!

Disclosure: I was provided samples of the products mentioned to facilitate this review. I was not told what to say or how to say it. And as always, all opinions are my own.
Those snack all look so fun and delicious! Is it bad that I would totally get them for myself too? Don’t get too discouraged over your kids getting stoked on their candy. I remember when I was younger, I would hoard all my candy but I would be too possessive of it to eat it! Christmas would roll around and my bowl would still be full, lol! Maybe your kids will do likewise.

I actually ate most of the snacks because I loved them so much! Lol I’m kind of hoping I get to snack on their candy too, even if if is til Christmas! You’ve got to treat yourself.
