Fight Hunger With Cuddle and Kind Dolls

September 22, 2015 By Courtney

If you’re reading this post, chances are you have a few minutes to check out this video. So, stop what you’re doing (including reading!) and watch this.

A family of five has created a wonderful new initiative that is on a mission to feed children in need.

The Woodgate family has launched cuddle+kind, a new Ontario-based company that is creating amazing hand-knit dolls to provide food to children and families in North America and other countries in need.

The Woodgate family said they came up with the concept after watching a documentary on hunger that changed their lives. Now they would like to do the same for the millions of hungry people across the globe with cuddle+kind.

Each cuddle+kind doll purchased provides 10 meals to hungry children, with a mission  to provide 1 million meals.

cuddle+kind has partnered with the World Food Program and Children’s Hunger Fund to guarantee that every purchase will directly benefit a child in need.

These dolls are beautiful. Simply exquisite.

There are nine whimsical and stylish dolls to choose from, each with their own name, birth date and personality.

Our newest friend is Everest. He is a gorgeous penguin and is the perfect size to love on.

He even came with a favorite quote.

“Leave the world a little better than you found it.”

Fast facts about the fabric features:

  • hand knit with premium 100% cotton yarn
  • high stitch count for durability and softness
  • premium felt and knit details
  • stuffed with hypoallergneic polyfill to be the ideal cuddle weight
  • safe and non-toxic: certified to meet US and Canada safety standards
  • made in Peru using Fair Trade practices

My kids are in love with Everest! I love how soft and colorful he is. It just so happens his birthday is September 24 and my oldest already has plans to celebrate it! Any child would be thrilled to receive this doll.

I think the dolls would make for a fantastic shower or birthday gift. And I know it’s only September, but the holidays are coming, and this doll is one of the most unique ones I’ve seen and it’s a slam dunk gift. You’ll make two children smile. One who has a full and happy tummy. And another who has a new friend to play with!

From September 16- October 16, cuddle+kind is pre-launching on Indiegogo to help produce the next phase of dolls and to feed more children.

In just six days, $117,714 was raised by 1,184 people. Amazing!

Disclosure: Cuddle and Kind graciously sent me a handmade doll as a token of appreciation for helping to spread the word about this amazing initiative.
