If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know that I’m taking small steps at becoming healthier. As a busy mom, it’s easy to forget about me because I’m always putting my kids first.
Their plates are full of fruits and veggies, while I’m standing next to the table eating whatever I can get my hands on. It’s a terrible habit and I’m working every day to break it.
We all plan on eating our peas and carrots, and other vegetables of course, but for a variety of reasons, like mine, we sometimes fall short. I’ve even bought greens and other veggies, only to forget about them in my fridge. Finding them when it’s too late is no fun at all and kind of gross, actually.
This month, I was asked to join the #3DaystoGreen movement with Evolution Fresh. They’re challenging everyone to join – drinking one green juice a day for three days to take a small step toward a better self and a new good-for-you habit. Easy peasy, no?
This was a great opportunity to sample their convenient drinks that give you just about every thing you need in a matter of the minutes they take to gulp down.
Juice details:
Evolution Fresh Sweet Greens and Lemon, Essential Greens with Lime, Organic Sweet Greens and Ginger, and Smooth Greens all contain more than one pound of green vegetables and 10g of sugar or less per serving.
Plus there’s nothing added: no preservatives, no sweeteners and no added flavors – including the natural ones.
Evolution Fresh is available at Whole Foods. I found them in the fridge near the salad bar.
How they taste:
The first thing that comes to mind is fresh. They really do taste like they came right out of a juicer, instead of right out of your fridge. I actually think they’re better than a juicer actually, because they are incredibly smooth. As thin as water.
I do like vegetables so I enjoyed the cool, crisp taste. But, I honestly think even if you don’t like kale or celery or spinach, these drinks are a way to consume the nutrients in those veggies, quickly and with good taste.
My favorite was the Sweet Greens and Lemon. I’m on a huge lemon binge these days. I’m putting it on everything! While you could taste the celery the most in this juice, the apple comes through strong, giving it the sweetness I was looking for.
My husband had a chance to try some of the juices I picked up at Whole Foods and enjoyed the Organic Greens and Ginger. He said it actually had a bit of spicy kick.
If you like veggies, you’ll really like these. They’re sort of hearty, cool and filled with the taste of the healthy food you like, but don’t always buy at the market. And there’s little doubt you’ll feel better after doing what our moms always told us to do; eat or in this case drink your vegetables!
