I’d say my kids were good little eaters. They will both try anything once or twice, but they do have their standby meals. For some reason, it’s easier to broaden their palette at home than when we go out. No matter how many options I give them if we are dining elsewhere, the answer is always the same: Chicken and fries.
Truth be told, we don’t eat out a lot. I actually can’t even tell you the last time we sat in a restaurant’s dining room. However, there have been several occasions where all three kids are with me when I’m doing errands and they eat lunch in the car. They get a kick out of it and it helps make my afternoon run smoother. But, getting them to try something other than chicken and fries has been near impossible.
Recently, we tried a different kind of chicken they hadn’t eaten before. I think this is their first step to shaking things up a bit. I had seen commercials about KFC Popcorn Nuggets and how it’s made of 100% white meat, so I knew this could definitely fulfill my kids’ nugget cravings.
We had just been out for a bit and KFC was our last stop. My two oldest were falling asleep, so this time I chose to bring the food home and eat at the table like civilized people.
The first thing my daughter said when I put the chicken on her plate was “Oooooh, look how cute!” Leave it to a girl to say that about her food. Both kids dove right in and the dining room fell silent. I asked my oldest a bunch of questions about the chicken because it was her first time having it.
“I like how crispy it is.”
“This chicken has the most flavor ever.”
“I like biting the small pieces.”
My daughter normally stares at her food before putting it in her mouth. She examines each and every bit of it. But, she really enjoyed the chicken and said it was the best. And she has tried her share of chicken nuggets, believe me.
Meanwhile, my two-year-old is happy to eat all the time, so seeing him finish his plate told me he enjoyed it, too.
If your kids are like mine and prefer chicken nuggets over everything else on the menu, I think it’s time to stage a “Nugget-vention” and get them to try KFC Popcorn Nuggets.
Moms would agree that eating 100% white meat that is never pressed or formed, from the world’s best chicken, is a key factor in deciding where to buy lunch.
If you’d like your kids to ‘shake things up a bit’ because you too may have some unsuitable nuggets in your life, here are some other ways to enjoy the Popcorn Nuggets:
Serve it as a side dish with dinner.
Share it as a snack. The Popcorn Nuggets travels well and fits nicely in a fun, popcorn-type container. Your kids can actually snack on them in the car without spilling and fill their belly up. Winner winner, chicken dinner!
I was able to snag a few pieces of chicken from my kids to see what the fuss was all about it. And even though the pieces are adorably tiny, they pack a lot of punch. They have a crispy crunch to them and it’s easy to see why kids would love them.
Are your kids obsessed with eating the same thing too when they dine out?
