In addition to your typical must-have items for the beach, there are a few tried and true things that I never leave home without.
Sun flap baby/toddler sun protection swim hat– I love that it’s UPF 50+ and can get wet just like a bathing suit. As long as your child keeps it on their head, you’re good to go!
Turkish Towel – these towels are not only usually beautiful, but they are high absorbency and light weight, making it easy to throw in your bag. It also dries very quickly. Turkish towels can double as a swaddling blanket or nursing cover. The best part? They get softer the more you wash them!
Portable Tent or Pop N’ Play – As long as you have room to carry this, it’s a great play area and nap area for baby. If you have a child 6 months old or younger, this may be most important for you since babies that young are not advised to wear sunscreen.
Reusable Swim Diaper – Not only are reusable swim diapers environmentally friendly, but they come with a drawstring waist so they grow with your baby. I love reusable swim diapers because they offer a great fit, they’re super affordable and contain a mess, if need be.
Spray Bottle- Having this on hand filled with clean water is a great way to cool down baby. You can mist them or even let them play with it.
All-Terrain Stroller – Here me out on this one. Don’t go out and buy one just for the beach if that’s all that you’ll need it for. But, if you have a stroller with air-filled tires, this will be great if you want to exercise or take baby on a walk on the wet sand. An all-terrain stroller can be a great way to transport baby on the beach, change their diaper or serve as a clean place to nap. Mom Tip: I bought my all-terrain second-hand for $100 and use it the most out of all of my strollers. After a good washing, it looks good as new! If you’re still trying to rationalize the cost of one, since they can be upwards to $400 or $500, maybe sell a stroller you’re not using as much and use that money to buy an all-terrain one. I take our all-terrain stroller to the park, playground, beach and more. It rolls on just about anything!
