This is an exciting time for me as a parent because my 4-year-old is starting to watch movies. Like, actually watch them from beginning to end. The first films I have introduced her to are some of my Disney favorites. I had a huge collection of Disney movies growing up, but of course they’re all on VHS, so that doesn’t help me now. Writing that sentence makes me sound like I’m from the stone-age!
We’ve only seen a few so far and her current favorites are Finding Nemo, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. She’s especially attached to the second Little Mermaid film called “Return to the Sea.” I had never seen or heard of it before because it’s after my time, but it’s so much fun to enjoy Disney films all over again with my little girl.
Like any true Disney fan, my daughter knows all the words to the movie’s songs and acts out various scenes with her brother and stuffed animals. It’s seriously cute!
When we got the opportunity to review a newly released soundtrack of The Little Mermaid we were so excited. This is my daughter’s first CD and it lets us enjoy more of the movie while we dance in our living room or sing in the car.

Can you believe it’s been 25 years since the release of The Little Mermaid? My best friend was obsessed with this movie and watching it still makes me think of her. Releasing this CD on its silver anniversary is a great way to celebrate this childhood favorite.
The 2-disc set features songs we all know and love plus some never before released demos and working tapes from Producer Howard Ashman and Director Alan Menken and more. The beautiful book-bound two disc collectible set was exclusively illustrated by the talented Lorelay Bove. The artwork is truly stunning.
