This sponsored post by Dunkin’ aims to spread the word about a local cause that is easy to support if you’re a coffee fan like myself. All opinions about Dunkin’ are my own.
A local initiative coffee lovers are all too familiar with is back and better than ever!
On May 22nd, Dunkin’ will be donating $1 to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for every Iced Coffee sold in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts throughout the day.
And again this year, Iced Coffee Day has partnered with local tradition Good Night Lights.
Good Night Lights is a daily tradition where residents, businesses and law enforcement officials let the children at Hasbro Children’s Hospital know they’re thinking of them.
Every night, at exactly 8:30 p.m., Good Night Lights participants shine flashlights (and police cars, firetrucks and ambulances turn on their lights) toward the hospital from various locations in downtown Providence. In return, patients in the hospital flicker their room lights on and off and shine their own flashlights from their windows.
New this year, all Next Generation Dunkin’ stores in RI and Southeastern, MA will flash their lights ceremoniously, as well.
Through the partnership, anytime you buy an Iced Coffee at Dunkin’ (**most locations) the week before Iced Coffee Day, you will receive a small key chain flashlight.
And that’s not all! All day long on Iced Coffee Day, Dunkin’ will be hosting mini events at various store locations, getting devoted customers excited to support this local cause and buy iced coffees.
Keep a close eye on who is working behind the counter, because some political figures, local celebrities, and even a Patriot will be at some of the stores working the windows and encouraging customers to take part in the great cause.
The Iced Coffee Day celebration will end on the evening of May 22 with a “block party” at India Point Park, where everyone has a received a flashlight, and all community members, are invited for a night of games, food and fun, all leading to a HUGE 8:30 p.m. flashlight flash to the children at the hospital.
I will be there with my four kids and I hope to see some of you all there, too! Mark your calendars for this very special coffee for a cause date!
